Meet the everyday alstroemeria!
Looks kinda boring, huh? For years I thought the same! I wasn’t a huge fan of all that was going on with the colors, stems and flower heads.
And I surely wouldn’t THINK TWICE about them at the grocery store when I wanted a quick bouquet for my dining room table. UNTIL NOW!
Friends, here is the INSIDER TRICK: PULL OFF ALL THE UNWANTED FLOWERS!
As designers, we are constantly STRIPPING the leaves and greenery off our flower stems so they are CLEAN. So why not do it with the ACTUAL FLOWER HEAD!??!!! How genius!
I didn’t even THINK about stripping away some of the flower buds until I watched Mexico City based designer, Gabriela, with La Musa De Las Flores, design her breathtaking and airy designs. She was constantly pulling off greenery and flower buds or heads to give her designs a refined and airy look.
I always thought you had to BUY flowers and greens that were naturally AIRY – you know that had the perfect movement to them and perfect amount of flowers and greens on the stem.
Nope. YOU can create that look. On really any flower stem you want!
So here are my THREE EASY STEPS for anyone to ELEVATE THE EVERYDAY ALSTROEMERIA!
- Purchase your favorite colored alstroemeria at your local grocery store.
- Pull off ALL GREENERY. And snap off any flower heads you think would give you a more AIRY + CLEAN + REFINED look.
- Grab your favorite coordinating vase and cut them to the desired length. Oh and of course add water! đ
I chose to add just one stem to my little bud vase to sit on my living room side table. But feel free to put all of your bunches in the same vase for an en masse look!
