Fe & Pete, An Industrial Bond Wedding

October, 2018

When I met Fe, I immediately fell in love with her story.  Over breakfast she shared her upbringing in Brazil, corporate marketing background, and her mutual love for cycling & running with her fiance, Pete.  Over the past 4 years I never had the privilege of working with a bride from a different culture, and was completely loving everything about her day!

In Brazil, a “traditional” wedding is usually celebrated as a FUN and LIVELY party.  So the bridesmaids chose whatever dress they feel like (with no need to stay within a certain color palette, style, shape, whatever!!!), there may or may not be a formal dinner with assigned seats, and there is always lots of time for drinking, dancing, and just having FUN celebrating the new couple.

Fe and Pete chose The Bond in York because it reflected their perfect style for a MINIMAL wedding with a contemporary and urban feel.  Fe envisioned all the flowers and styling details to be light, airy, simple, yet meaningful.  We used pompas grass, succulents, olive branches, italian ruscus, gold candlesticks and black candles, and a mixture of black vessels as part of her styling elements.  In lieu of bridal bouquets, Fe had her girls carry silver balloons and her flower girl carry a pink star balloon – how original!!!

My favorite styling detail for their day was the inspiration behind a TON of hanging geometric and himmeli shapes from the exposed pipes all over the venue.  Growing up Fe’s mom would grow orchids and hang them on the trees outside their home (PLEASE take me THERE!!). So Fe, in wanting to bring a bit of her home and love of her Brazilian culture into her day, envisioned greenery hanging naturally from a variety of mixed metal shapes all over the ceremony and reception.  Friends, IT WAS MAGICAL!!!!

But the sweetest element of the day was that Pete  DESIGNED HER BOUQUET!!  Fe wanted to be totally surprised!  Pete chose a beautiful, cascading bouquet of elegant orchids in bright purples, some light purples, and whites.  The colors perfectly tied in colors from other styling details and reflected Fe’s beautiful and sweet personality.

Fe and Pete, you two are an amazing couple and we LOVED taking part in your day.  We wish you all the best! xx
