Rachel & Kevin, dreamy backyard wedding

I love how every wedding takes on it’s own personality.  A bride’s vision through her use of colors, flowers, textures, venue, photographer, etc. help to give it their unique look.  And Rachel and Kevin’s day was the perfect blend of elegance, femininity, and garden romance, to make it a true reflection of them.

Rachel and Kevin are sweet people with an even sweeter story how they met.  I felt honored and privileged to have known Rachel all my life, since she’s my older sister, and heard the inside scoop on meeting this “amazing guy named Kevin”.  They both are genuine people and bring out the best in each other.  It was such an honor to not only design and create the flowers for their day, but to also stand next to Rachel as her maid of honor.  I’ll cherish that moment forever!

Rachel chose a perfect, soft color palette in creams, pinks, blushes, and peaches to play off the outdoor gardens.  And I like to say it was also a reflection of her sweet and kind spirit.

Our mother and grandmother wrist corsages are non-traditional, classy and elegant.  We use a gold wristlet which can be tightened or loosened to properly fit each individual wrist.

For Rachel’s wedding we purchased spray roses from CA since they were the PERFECT color, and I loved the little “ruffles” inside.  Like every wedding, we take care in ordering flowers to perfectly coordinate with our bride’s color palette.  We finished the look with silver dollar and seeded eucalyptus.

We also chose a cream spray rose for the men’s boutonnieres to perfectly compliment their pink bowties.

Rachel is number four of us sisters to get married.  So she experienced the country club wedding, the barn wedding, and the estate wedding, and decided to keep things simple & sweet by getting married in our parents backyard.  This obviously had a lot of meaning to all of us since we created many memories outside together.

Us sisters wore a variety of black, knee-length dresses for an elegant look.  The bridesmaid bouquets all had the same elements but were made a bit differently to give a little relaxed look.

I created an un-structured bouquet filled with juliet garden roses, bridal protea, peach stock, a variety of spray roses, traditional roses, spray roses, snapdragons, hydrangeas grown in my parents back yard, and a variety of eucalyptus for the girls bouquets.  Although Rachel preferred to keep her bouquet a bit more “traditional” and not as unstructured, which reflects personality of confidence, style and grace, perfectly!

They moved furniture outside to give an inviting look to their guests.  And thought through all the sweet little details making their day so special!

I’m all about first looks, in fact, I had one with Jonathan for our wedding, but there is something SO SPECIAL seeing your bride for the first time as she’s walking down the aisle.  And Kevin knows it!  There is sheer joy in his eyes!  I’m not sure who was glowing more that day!

In keeping to their vision of backyard fun, they had a variety of games set around for guests to play and entertain themselves before the sun set and bluegrass band played late into the night.

For dinner they had a local caterer serve a tortilla bar!  Kevin and Rachel love experiencing food together and this was a special part of their story they wanted to share with their guests.  A variety of special favorites were served for dessert.

We created centerpieces filled with spray roses, garden roses, zinnias, hydrangeas, and greens for the reception tables.   As well as little bud vases for the high-top tables.

Rachel and Kevin topped off the night by walking through a sparkler sendoff.  LOVE this!

And they rode into the night on a horse-drawn carriage by our local Amish.  Which was a special element they wanted to include in their day.

I wish you both the most amazing marriage.  Your love for each other and for your Lord will keep you grounded as you go through the thrills and hard times of life.  Love you both!!
