Kate & Dan, the perfect marriage of simplicity & femininity

Farm at Eagle’s Ridge, Lancaster, PA, Char Co. Photography, October 2017

I just love Kate’s family.  They were family friends growing up.  And some of the nicest people to have in our lives.  I always admired Kate’s sense of style.  She always had such a sweet smile filled with natural beauty.  And as you can imagine, when she asked if I would help with the florals for her day, I knew her vision would be everything I would love!!  And of course I DID!

Kate’s vision was everything simple, feminine and minimalistic. They were all about “less is more.”  Nothing over the top.  Not a lot of noise.  No glam.  Just them.  It was breathtaking!  And how cute are these two?

Kate wore a beautiful BHLDN dress finished with lace – which of course was the perfect touch.  Kristen from Unfading Beauty by Kristen added seeded eucalyptus finish her loose up-do.  **Still deciding on hair flowers for YOUR day?  UM, yesss please!!  This just screams perfection!!!

And while Dan is an outdoorsy guy at heart, he wore a classic suit and burgundy tie which matched perfectly with the matron of honor’s dress.  It wasn’t fancy.  But it didn’t need to be.  It was them!

We kept the ceremony decor simple, pulling in natural elements from the fall foliage at the farm.

We used seasonal florals such as a variety of dahlias from our favorite local dahlia farm in Kate and Emily’s bouquets.  I find purchasing local dahlias in the fall – which is their prime blooming season – always hold up much better than purchasing from my wholesalers.  They look and feel more natural and handle being in a bouquet much better than a dahlia that may have been shipped from halfway around the world!

Since they were family friends, I just had to include a picture of the siblings!

We finished the bouquets with our usual favorites – ranunculus, astilbe, astrantia, seeded eucalyptus, gunnii, silver dollar eucalyptus, baby blue, and of course silk ribbons!  We kept Emily’s bouquet very mono-chronomatic with earthy, neutral tones, and added pops of burgundy to Kate’s bouquet to tie in their burgundy color.

As you can imagine, their reception featured minimalistic touches which cohesively tied their look together.

They chose all round tables finished with white floor-length linens, and a simple candle centerpiece.  Friends, if you are still deciding on an economical look for your centerpiece, THIS IS IT!  We actually have a lot of brides wanting this type of centerpiece for the 2018 wedding season.  It’s classic, elegant, simple and timeless!  And of course it adds to your ambience too!

A friend made a beautiful, and again simple two-tiered cake.  The look was finished perfectly with just olive branches.  I think anything else may have taken away from the special simplicity look they wanted even in their details!

Kate & Dan, I wish you guys such a wonderful marriage!  Your day was one to truly cherish for the rest of your lives!! Hugs!
