Alyssa & Matt, enchanted woods and rolling peach orchards

Childhood camp, Western Pa, Canister Photography, September 2016

Thinking about an enchanted, forest wedding?  This my friends, IS IT!  Alyssa and Matt said their vows in one of their most favorite places.  Which was a true reflection of their love for the outdoors, for each other, and childhood memories.  And I loved the chance I had to work with them to bring their vision to life.

I met Matt and Alyssa at a coffee shop and their love for the world, caring for our earth, and others-minded was quite evident.  Not only were they madly in love, but they shared their passion about a non-profit they supported.  Alyssa, who worked in environmental sustainability at the time (but now works pursuing her dream as a gifted wedding photographer!!!), wanted to incorporate elements in their day to conserve waste.  But they also envisioned tying in the natural elements from the woods and trees, and Matt’s childhood camp, which overlooked PA’s beautiful rolling hills filled with peach and apple orchards.  Enchanting?  Oh yea!

You see, this was a favorite summer camp where Matt would spend his summers.  It made perfect sense to celebrate this momentous occasion with the love of his life, and their whole world.  It was perfect!

They chose a perfect color palette in  peaches, blushes, burgundy’s, and natural greens.

Kaki pants, ties, and mismatched sandals were the perfect look to add a touch of formality to individuality.

We made a floral crown filled with Heather flowers for Alyssa.  And pulled in some of the peach hues for a simple boutonniere for Matt.  I thought this was so sweet considering Alyssa, who is a hardcore ultra-marathoner, and Matt who is a serious hiker, usually posts pictures of their ready-to-hit-the-trails workout apparel.

Matt is also a graphic designer and created their own logo, featuring their initials for their invites.  And also appropriately carved into a piece of wood a remembrance of their day.  And to make sure the rings were not lost in the woods.  I loved this!

The reception was held across the street at the pavilion filled with wooden picnic tables, overlook rolling orchards.  OH MY GOODNESS!  The setting sun poured into the pavilion making it all so dreamy.

We hung ferns in a variety of sizes to class-up the pavilion.  It added the perfect overhanging touch to the space.  As the sun set for the night, twinkle lights shone brightly from the beams.

We did a lot of research into eco-friendly tablescape options since this was a meaningful element.   We considered a plate that was biodegradable but decided to rent square dinner plates, glassware, stemware, pitchers, and cloth napkins.  Which were rolled and tied with twine and finished with a sage leaf.  So classy!

We set all the plates and goblets on the picnic tables so there was a finished yet welcoming look as guests looked for their seats.  We also chose three types of centerpieces.  The first was a garland of fern plumosa which was finished with candles.

Because the pavilion overlooked orchards, it seemed fitting to have little gold urn centerpieces filled with peaches and finished with greens.  Fern fronds were placed on the tables in between the centerpieces to create a garland appearance.

The third centerpiece was made up of clumps of herbs and potted plants with garlands running in-between them.

It was such a pleasure being part of Alyssa and Matt’s sweet day.  I adored the personal touches.  Every couple should take note!  😉

We wish you both the best, Alyssa and Matt!  Keep pursuing your passions.  I know there are a lot of adventures that await!
